We filmed this Montmartre walk just before the busy October Wine Harvest Festival, which always brings a lively crowd to this iconic Parisian neighbourhood. It was early autumn, and we began our journey at the charming Lamarck-Caulaincourt metro station, famous for its appearance in the film Amélie. There’s something special about stepping out of this station, with its classic Art Nouveau design, and into the heart of one of the most picturesque areas of Paris.
The streets were calm, and the soft autumn light bathed Montmartre in a warm glow. Walking through the quieter backstreets towards the back of Sacré-Cœur felt almost meditative, allowing us to fully appreciate the charm of the area. The cool breeze and the peaceful atmosphere made it an ideal time to absorb the history and beauty of this part of the city, which always feels like stepping into another era.
A particularly lovely moment was passing by Saint-Pierre and reaching the vibrant Place du Tertre, the artistic hub of Montmartre. Here, painters and sketch artists fill the square, and though it’s a well-known spot, it still retains its bohemian character. Even though we’ve walked these streets many times, a walk through Montmartre is truly one of our favourites. We loved every minute of it. Montmartre, with its winding streets, artistic heritage, and timeless beauty, is the Paris we hold dearest.
